ABOUT JACKIE

Jackie Sharp is the author of crime fiction novels.
When she was seven, she read her first Nancy Drew story and was hooked on mystery stories forever.
Until 2004, Jackie considered herself a true city girl, and then she emigrated to Canada and settled on Vancouver Island. She is now married to Bob, a commercial fisherman and accomplished storyteller – like most fishermen! Jackie got over the culture shock (eventually) and now, not one of her work colleagues in London would recognize her helping to clean fish and smoke fillets of salmon.
Her first crime series, (written as Jackie Elliott) was inspired by the small fishing communities on Vancouver Island and features the fictional town of Coffin Cove. Hell’s Half Acre, the second in the series was shortlisted for a Crime Writer’s of Canada Award of Excellence in 2022, in the The Whodunit Award for Best Traditional Mystery. The series is published by Joffe Books.
In 2024, inspired by a local marina community, Jackie wrote "Murder At The Marina", and launched it on Kickstarter and donated the funds to Ladysmith Maritime Society. The local launch was such a success that she went on to create a series of six cozy mystery novels which she is currently self publishing, along with a historical mystery series based on her family history.
But Jackie is not new to self publishing. She has previously written and self-published two non-fiction books, which have continuously ranked in the top 20 of their Amazon categories for nearly a decade, and she has also helped other writers achieve their publishing dreams.
There is nothing more that Jackie loves than writing warm cozy mystery stories, the kind you can read with a large mug of tea and a slice of cake on a rainy afternoon.
Jackie is also passionate about local history, and her ideas are often prompted by an afternoon browsing around a museum, or by digging back into her own family history.
When she is not writing or reading, you’ll find Jackie waging war with the weeds in her garden, hanging out at the beach, or volunteering for the local Maritime Society.
